What point is too much?

http://entertainment.msn.com/tv/hotgossipb2?GT1=7756

This is the second time today I have heard about Jessica Simpson's love life. Just gets me asking at what point do we know too much about celebrities? at what point do we care too much?
Now, I watch as much MTV/VH1 as the next pop culture enthusiast.

I probably watch too much, but what I also do is follow it up with a steady diet of local news and as much current events as I can stomach. Maybe it just pains me today because I have a feeling that we should be talking about something different (foreign affairs, hurricane recovery, crime rates... pick your poison)
.

Whatcha think? Gimmie something to wok with on this one...

I guess I'm kinda the complete opposite:

As a pop culture junkie, I pick up some celebrity news here and there, but not too much. I love the movies and music they make, but I really, really do not want to know what is going on their personal lives.

But I can't act all superior about that either though, because I barely follow any current events and local news.

I pretty much live in a bubble, which I guess is terrible, right?: if it isn't DIRECTLY affecting my life or the people in my life, I generally pay very little attention.

I've been telling myself for years to grow up and start caring about real world events (politics, news, etc.) but I still haven't gotten around to it...maybe that can be next year's resolution (only to be broken once moree I assure you.)

(Glad to see you posting so much Boardroom. Just so you know, I still read every day, but tax season has got me so busy these days that I can barely write anythign on my own blog, much less leave comments on all of the posts I want to.)

Hey.. thanks for the comments. Yeah, I am trying to post a little more these days. It is also a resolution!

Reading back again, I am kind of amazed that I let this get to me as much as it did last night - doesnt' negate the root question.

And another part of me was probably set off by the fact that it was Jessica Simpson. She has a very secret X-factor which is worth noting, HER FATHER. I am not sure why, but I still consider this man a genius. He has two mildly talented daughters who have reached superstardum based on marketing alone! And all of it under his watchful eye!

And you know.. the other part of me believes that as long as people are reading/watching this, it will remain news. If this was the most popular article on the days entertainment ticker, then you can be there will be two more like it tommorow - all about demand.

Thanks again for reading... hopefully some more good stuff to come this year!
